The summer schools in the field of applied superconductivity are a long tradition. After the 2017 school in Lans-en-Vercors, this year the event takes place in « Le Col de Porte », France, in the beautiful « Massif de Chartreuse », close to Grenoble. Grenoble has always played an important part in the field of superconductivity, from physics to applications. This school is organized by AFF/CCS, ESAS and IEEE CSC.
This summer school is open to everybody interested by applied superconductivity: students, PhD, post-Doc, but also researcher or enginers.
Several speakers will cover all the aspects of superconductivity from physics to large scale applications (MRI, High Energy Physics, Fusion, FCL, cables, rotating machines, …) through materials (NbTi, Nb3Sn, REBCO, BSCCO, MgB2, Pnitides…), cryogenics, instrumentation and modelling. Several industrial speakers will highlight the industrial aspects of superconductivity with a market in constant growing.
Technical visits are organized on Friday morning.
This school was intended not only to provide a better understanding of superconductivity in general, but also to develop links and networking between the community especially the young one. All participants will present a poster, support for exchanges. The warm « Hôtel Cartusia » and a hike on the wonderful Chartreuse followed by an evening in an Alpine restaurant will favour this. To maintain the essential conviviality the number of participants is limited.
